A D M I S S I O N S

In accordance with our covenantal philosophy, we require that at least one parent would have a professional of faith as a born-again Christian and be an active member of a local evangelical church (or regular attendees if the church does not have official membership). Students also are required to be in regular attendance at a local evangelical church. “Evangelical church” for the purposes of CCS admission is defined as a church that adheres to at least the following fundamental Christian beliefs:

  • Infallibility/Inerrancy of Scripture
  • God as Trinity (one God, three persons)
  • Christ’s Person: Divine and human natures in one person; virgin birth; Christ’s lordship
  • Christ’s Work: Substitutionary atonement; sinless life; bodily resurrection; final coming in blessing/judgment
  • Salvation: Justification by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone.

A student’s discipline record and academic ability to succeed at CCS must be satisfactory in order to be considered for admission. Additionally, CCS must be confident of its ability to meet the educational needs of the student. Therefore, children of Christian parents of any race, color, nationality or ethnic origin, may be admitted to CCS provided they meet all admissions criteria and if space is available.

New and reenrolling parent(s) or guardian(s) with whom the child lives must annually agree to, and support, the CCS Statement of Belief and Philosophy and policies set by the CCS Administration. Final acceptance of all students will be decided by the Administration. All new students enter on probation for the first semester and the Administration reserves the right to continue that probation for discipleship or other purposes.

The general priority system for admission based on space availability is:
1. Current student
2. Sibling of current student
3. Children of faculty and staff
4. Children of members of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Palm Bay
5. Children of families with membership in local churches

For kindergarten applicants in categories two through four above, the admissions priority is effective January through February. For new incoming first through twelfth grader students in categories two through four above, the admissions priority period is from mid February to the end of February. Then beginning March 1st, all applications will be considered in the order they are received.

In addition to the above requirements, September 1st is the cut-off birthday date for children entering kindergarten and first grade. (Children must be age five (5) on or before September 1st for kindergarten and six (6) years old for first grade). Exceptions to this policy are on a case-by-case basis. All students applying for a grade level must exhibit the appropriate
maturity and academic achievement to succeed in that classroom setting.
