Varsity Track Team at Districts

04/15/2010 The Varsity track team participated in the District meet today. The team put forth their best effort of the year! The weather again was working against the team by being very windy and raining off and on, but many kids still had their best times for the year.

The sprinters did very well overall with the following kids making Person Records (PR):

Aailiah Edner - 100meters 15.99, 200 meters 34.64

Vaughn Wittock - 100 meters 12.60

Rayshaad Warren - 200 meters 26.97

Lydia Rhoa - 200 meters 33.44

Mandy Dixon - 300 meter hurdles 1:11.60

Even with the wind factor the following distance runners also had personal bests:

Nathan Thurman - 1600 meters 5:34.61

Daniel Myer - 800 meter 2:44

Zeke Zauner – 800 meter 2:18

The boys 4X800 team placed 6th with a time of  10:14.85. Will Godwin, Daniel Myer, Nathan Thurman, and Zeke Zauner run the 4X800 and also set the school record this year with a 10.04.74.

Kayla Drawdy was the girls team's big point scorer by making it to the finals of both the 100 meter hurdles and the 300 meter hurdles. She placed 8th in the 100 meter hurdles and 4th in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 52.25. Kayla will move on to participate at Regionals next Thursday at the First Academy Track in Orlando.
