Covenant Singers To Shine in All-State Concerts
Seniors Rebecca Bowles and David Howell have 
been selected as Florida All-State Singers for 2010!
Testing for All-State began in October. Singers were given an in-depth Musicianship Test which tested aural listening skills and music theory knowledge. Secondly, a Sightsinging Test was administered where each singer went before a panel of judges to sing 40 measures of music they had never seen before. The third and fourth rounds took place in November in Osceola County. Singers went before judges to sing their All-State music “note and lyric perfect” and were also judged on the quality and timbre of their voices.
Rebecca and David passed all four of the tests and, when ranked statewide, both were selected to receive the coveted Florida All-State Singer status.
This earns them the opportunity to rehearse and perform with the best singers in the state of Florida under the baton of a world-class conductor.
David will be singing Bass 1 and Rebecca will be singing Soprano 1 in the High School Mixed Choir under the direction of Dr. Simon Carrington, British Performing Artist, Yale Conductor Emeritus and co-founder of the internationally known King's Singers.
The All-State Rehearsals & Concerts will take place in Tampa at the Marriott Waterside Grand and the Tampa Performing Arts Center, January 7-9, 2010. |
